About Sylvia

Sylvia Vedamani is a California board-certified doctor of physical therapy (DPT) with eight years of practice in the Los Angeles area. She received a DPT degree from Andrews University (Michigan) with a specialty in movement analysis.

From an early fascination with bodies and beautiful movements of gymnastics and dance, Sylvia discovered her own athleticism in the gym. She taught group classes and became a certified personal trainer. Since becoming a physical therapist, her interest in the body as a whole has led to a focus on movement analysis to get to the source of problems, whether in a specific sport or just to gain beautiful posture and more graceful movements.

Sylvia marvels at the body’s ability to move and get stronger, and wants her clients to do so, too. Sylvia sees people at all stages of life struggle with bodies that fail to perform optimally. It breaks her heart to see elderly patients go from fully independent to largely dependent because of a fall. She has met athletes who could increase their competitive skills with only a slight adjustment in body mechanics. As an avid gym-goer, Sylvia often sees poor training and poor execution even when working with costly personal trainers, and sees a lot of hard effort with disappointing results. She knows there is a better way.

Sylvia, as your personal physical therapist, can show you how. Her experience includes working with the elderly, athletes, and fitness instructors, cardiopulmonary patients, and Parkinson’s patients. She has advanced training in movement, pain, orthopedics, spine, foot, and ankle therapies, and in neuromuscular stabilization. Sylvia uses her knowledge and training to guide patients to overcome apparent limitations and exceed their expectations. She stays informed of current scientific research, is passionate about sharing it, and uses it to make her clients’ lives better—and can make yours better, too.
